Pennsylvania Licensing

Step 1: Ask your manager for the discount code to sign up for your pre-licensing course on Xcel Solutions.  You want to register for the PA Life & Health combo course(Make sure you choose the combo course) Once you have completed your course, they will issue a certificate of completion which you may download and print from your online account.

Candidates will receive an email from the class containing a Candidate/Eligibility ID number typically within two business days after the certificate completion has been issued. The Candidate ID will be used to register for your state exam. Your course completion along with the Candidate ID will also be reported to PSI Services

Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, PSI Services. The fastest way to schedule your exam is to do so online at PSI Services. You can also schedule your exam over the phone at (904) 999-4923. Your exam may be taken at a physical PSI examination center or via a remote online proctored exam. Please have your Candidate ID ready when scheduling your exam.

Candidates who complete the pre-licensing course and become eligible to take the exam will have six (6) months to successfully take and pass the appropriate Pennsylvania licensing examination.

In order to cancel your testing appointment without forfeiting your examination fee you must cancel at least two days in advance of your appointment. You may do so by phone or online.

Step 3: Take and pass your state licensing exam.

Testing Center: You must bring two valid forms of government issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.) with you on the day of your appointment, one of which must contain your name and photograph. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met.

Security measures are taken at the testing site. Restrictions on what you may bring with you to the testing center, into the testing room, and what you may wear will be enforced. For more detailed information about the security measures that will be taken during your testing appointment, please read and review the instructions listed at PSI Services.

Online Proctored: If you decide to take the online proctored exam be sure that you have a location to test in that is suitable according to PSI requirements.  The proctor will ask that you remove any jewelry including earrings & watches and will require you to show the entire room to them via webcam, including under the desk.  They are VERY strict and will end your exam if you move or even look of your computer screen.  Should they terminate the exam you will NOT be refunded! For more detailed information about the security measures that will be taken during your testing appointment, please read and review the instructions listed at PSI Services.

At the end of your exam, you will receive a notice of completion via email. For questions regarding your exam, contact PSI Services.

Step 4: Apply for your license. Pennsylvania resident applicants must use the online application service at NIPR.

Step 5: Maintain your license by being aware of your continuing education requirements. Most insurance licenses must be maintained by completing a certain number of credit hours of continuing education each licensing period.
